2012 BLUE THEATRE SECONDSTAGE ART GALLERY EXHIBIT

Cross Mediums, Cross Horizons presenting works of art that explore the dynamic interaction between artist, creative process and the identities of their workplace.  The Exhibit is a year long exploration of different artists in habitat and the commonality of artistic process to band inspiration. While celebrating the relationship between the artists’ body, mind and environment, also explores the boundaries between the artists’ public and private space and how the work that is created speaks across mediums, across horizons.

BLUE THEATRE is a multi-arts, artist-operated Warehouse Performance Space on Austin’s East Side. We present and host a diverse art exhibition program that engages with current developments in contemporary art, theatre and culture, creating opportunities for both artists and audiences alike.

BLUE THEATRE SecondStage and Art Gallery provides visual and conceptual artists space to develop a substantial body of coherent, cohesive work and to mount an exhibition in the professional art community.  Profitable exhibitions of great merit are selected that might not be given an opportunity to be shown for lack of commercial potential or other financial restrictions.  We invite a large number of artists to come up with new ideas and proposals that inspire and challenge the development of this innovative working environment.

DECRIPTION OF OUR ARTISTS RESIDENCY PROGRAM: We host an artist residency program which provides opportunities for artists to work on short, to mid-tem projects, to full-staged productions allowing them to connect with the local, national and international art community and potentially feed into broader exhibition programs, events and learning and mentoring opportunities.
