Poison Apple Initiative proudly presents ‘CRUMBLE (Lay Me Down, Justin Timberlake)’ by Sheila Callaghan

The Poison Apple Initiative proudly presents

Crumble (Lay Me Down, Justin Timberlake) by Sheila Callaghan.

December 1st thru 18th

Wednesdays thru Saturdays

nightly at 8pm

Janice and her mother Clara live in an apartment that’s begun to fall apart since the freak accidental death of the father the previous Christmas. The Apartment, irked by his and the family’s state of disrepair, is plotting to kill them while Janice, inspired by visits from Justin Timberlake, hatches her own plan (involving doll heads and hazardous chemicals) to “make things right again”. A black comedy about trying to keep it together when it won’t stop falling apart.

Poison Apple Initiative is an independently run local theatre company dedicated to the production of sharp, dark comedies by local and national artists. Through our participation in the FronteraFest Long Fringe, Mi Casa Es Su Teatro, and the ArtSpark Festival, we’ve garnered a reputation for giving audiences “a razor-edged experience, one with a vibration and intensity that no video or cinema is going to provide” (Austinlivetheatre.com).

No Direction Productions presents CIVIL WAR BLUES

An existential experience questioning the attainability of the American dream set amidst the backdrop of a war within the United States. Combines the use of cinematic, surrealistic and auditory elements; touching on the subjects of class warfare, racism, media responsibility, love, death and free will within a world of lawlessness.

Strong language and adult situations.

NO DIRECTION PRODUCTIONS began as a way to explore new works by emerging artists who may not otherwise have a voice. The artists involved with NDP noticed that there was a need  to nurture the underground art scene not only in Austin but in the state of Texas.  We realized that a unifying organization could bring the arts to Austin in a productive and inspiring way. We believe that with NO DIRECTION PRODUCTIONS we can awaken senses and inspire action through art.

Listed as one of the “top nine of ’09” by the Austin Chronicle, this crew of 12 artists and performers has been nominated and/or received over 15 ACOT and B. Iden Payne awards for their work while in Austin.  Now they’ve assembled to focus their talents on one of the oldest love stories of all time; God meets girl, God gets girl, God loses girl and gets her back again only this time they’ve added a few new twists.

The show, originally called The Psyche Project, was generated by an ensemble of theater-makers at The University of Texas at Austin, for the David Cohen New Works Festival where it was voted the best of the Festival.  It was then produced by UT for their main stage season to sold out houses and was praised by Robert Faires as, dissecting love, “…with a satiric edge sharper than a ginsu knife.” For this re-mount they have added an original score composed just for them by Mother Falcon, one of the most talked about bands at last years SxSW festival, plus a new look created by award winning designer Sonja Raney.
